Minnesota United anuncia o novo CEO Chris Wright

Presidente de Minnesota Timberwolves, Chris Wright, foi nomeado CEO da Minnesota United nesta semana.Wright trabalhou com a equipe local da NBA nos últimos 26 anos, incluindo ajudar o lançamento da equipe de Minnesota Lynx WNBA em 1999. Wright nasceu e foi criado na Inglaterra e jogou goleiro em Hull City em sua juventude.

Wright gave a vote of confidence for current head coach Adrian Heath, stating he hopes to see Heath as manager to win MLS Cup. After United’s new CEO was announced, Heath spoke about how far the team has come since the beginning of this season. This is reflected in how well the squad has played on the road of late, winning two of their last three matches.

NASL files lawsuits against United States Soccer Federation

The North American Soccer League (NASL) has filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) this week. The NASL’s complaint alleges that the USSF structure of “divisions” (top division, second division, etc.) unfairly favored Major League Soccer (MLS) and that the USSF waived some criteria suppressing competition from the NASL against MLS and the United Soccer League (USL).

Rainbow Foods location at Midway set to close

The Rainbow Foods located at the Midway shopping center will close its doors for good on Friday, September 22nd. Demolition is anticipated to begin sometime in November to help make way for Allianz Field. Other tenants including Midway Pro Bowl, Walgreens, and Home Choice will also require demolition at that time.

MLS Midweek Roundup

Three matches took place this Wednesday night. Most notably, Sporting Kansas City defeated New York Red Bulls 2-1 to win their fourth US Open Cup final, their third within the past six years.

Atlanta United defeated LA Galaxy 4-0 at home in Atlanta, scoring all four of their goals in the first half. They have scored 14 goals in their last three matches.

Montreal Impact snapped Toronto FC’s 11-game unbeaten streak, winning 5-3 on the road in Toronto.
